Events Announced for the 2015 Brickhouse Garage Games

Now that Hitler’s coaches have leaked the plans, we might as well make them all public.

Event 1: “Ozzybel”

In Dave Castro style we tossed this one to the BHC community and the response was overwhelming for a Snatch Ladder.

But this is no ordinary Snatch Ladder, this is more like a heavy metal Isabel! For each division, there will be 4 barbells setup with ascending weights. The athlete will get 50 seconds to perform 5 Snatches (full squat, power, or split all qualify) before getting the call to rotate to the next bar. There will be a 10 second transition time before the next 50 seconds start.

The athlete’s score will be the amount of weight last lifted, plus the number of reps performed at that weight. The athlete must perform 5 reps at a given weight in order to progress to the next bar.

Now the good part: If an athlete completes all 5 reps at a given weight, they may continue to perform snatches to increase their score for each additional rep above 5 that they perform. For instance, if an athlete knows they will not be able to snatch the next weight, they will want to do as many reps at the current weight to attempt to beat others that will or have landed on that weight. For those that finish the ladder, they will want to fight for placement by accumulating as many reps as possible at that last weight!

The bars will be:

Female RX: 75 / 85 / 95 / 105
Male RX: 115 / 135 / 155 / 175

Female Novice: 55 / 60 / 70 / 75
Male Novice: 75 / 95 / 115 / 135

Event 2: “No Brick for The Fuhrer”

Event 3-5: “The Final Countdown”

Event 3 – At Minute 12

2 Rounds for time:
9 Front Squats (135 / 95) / (115 / 75)
12 Box Jumps (24″ / 20″)

Event 4 – Starting at Minute 8

2 Rounds for time:
9 Shoulder to Overhead (135 / 95) / (115 / 75)
12 Burpee with lateral jump over bar

Event 5 – Starting at Minute 4

Row for Cals (40 / 30)
AMRAP for the remaining time: Clean and Jerk (135 / 95) / (115 / 75)

* Each segment is scored as a separate event *
* If you finish 3 or 4 within the timeframe, you must rest until the beginning of the next segment *
* If you do not finish 3 or 4 within the timeframe, your score will be 4:00 + seconds for any reps remaining *
* Any style Clean and Jerk is ok, step overs are ok on the lateral jump burpees *
